Vibe is a music magazine from the EEUU, founded in 1993 by the musical producer Quincy Jones and edited by the company Time Inc. This magazine is a music one, and it mainly publishes about Hip Hop and R&B artists, however it also has content about other music genres and actors. It is a monthly magazine, and its main audience group is young people/teenagers and Hip Hop followers. Although it was rumored that hip hop tycoon Russell Simmons would be the initial partner, publicist Len Burnett revealed in a March 2007 interview that Simmons had had a confrontation with editor-in-chief Jonathan Van Meter. After shutting down production in Summer 2009, Vibe was purchased by the private equity investment fund InterMedia Partners and is now issued semi-monthly with double covers, with a larger online presence. One of the main factors of Vibe's success is the thematic range it covers, wider than its competitors ‘The Source’ and ‘XXL’. These are mostly concentrated in rap and rock music, such as the ‘Rolling Stone’ and ‘Spin’ magazines. It also differs from the ‘Essence’, ‘Ebony’ or ‘Jet’ publications, since it is aimed at younger readers of diverse ethnic backgrounds. For the year 2007, the circulation of Vibe was approximately 800,000 copies. It advertises from Dolce & Gabbana to brands of cognac, improving its prestige as a trendsetter. Covers The R & B singer, Mary J. Blige, has posed several times for the cover of Vibe, with countless articles about her career. In November 1994, the girls from the TLC trio appeared dressed as firefighters, 1 referring to the fire that member Lisa Lopes provoked-motivated by jealousy-in the mansion of her boyfriend, the basketball player Andre Rison. The first cover without a photograph was where an illustration of the singer Aaliyah, created by the artist and illustrator Álvaro, appears. Other celebrities that have appeared on the covers of Vibe are Brandy, Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Lopez, Eminem, R. Kelly and Michael Jackson. Contents The recurring segments include the 20 Questions list on the back cover, the column on reggae and Caribbean music Boomshots, the musical reviews Revolutions and the celebrity gossip column Vibe Confidential. The magazine also dedicates many pages to photographic editorials of urban fashion, such as Rocawear and Fubu. Vibe also included many brands created by different Hip-Hop artists, such as Sean John de Sean Combs, Apple Bottoms de Nelly y G-Unit de 50 Cent. Advances In Technology Vibe magazine has also advanced with technology, creating an online version of the magazine, which has includes information, focuses more on individual artists, has more facts, and in some articles includes videos and photos. The online copy of the magazine also includes references to artists in social networks. Vibe has also created advertisements on television to promote their product. Vibe Prices
