The first feature I wanted to point out from this cover and the most clearly seen is the contrast made between red, white and black. Colour red is used here to connote energy, strength and power. To represent the kind of player that Rashford is and the fact that he plays for Manchester United. White connotes purity, and it is known as the colour of perfection, used also to make everything in the cover to stand out more to the viewer's eyes.Black is usually associated with power, elegance, formality, strength and authority. Rashford's posture and body language towards the audience also gives us an idea of being in control of the situation, and again, it transmits to us a piece of his personality. At the upper right corner of the cover we can see a cover line which says "Master your own body" "Pull off the hardest move in calisthenics". Both of these coverlines also connote the idea of being in control, it also suggests that reading the magazine will help you to be stronger. Other coverlines are used to catch the audience's attention, for example, there is one that says : "Sexy athletes in your area", this coverline will make the audience look directly to it, like the one that says "52 sick stag ideas". This coverline is used to create intrigue, and when the reader reads the number 52, it will feel interested and will keep on reading thinking "52 what?"...The main coverline also uses the contrast of colours, and alternates fonts and capital letters to call people's attention. Another very important feature is the slogan, which says : "making goals look easy". This is a very catchy and effective slogan. |
