The contents page of Forever Sport has a white background, to make the magazine look more minimalist and simple to the viewer’s eye, to make the information easier to read, with black text to make it stand out more. The title and number pages are grouped depending on what they talk about, for example, there is a section called “style” which talks about fashion and clothes. Each section is also accompanied by a picture which represents the content in a more visual way. The main image of the page are 4 people in their motorbikes, two of them standing up and the other two sitting on their bikes. What this image is trying to conote is the idea of vandalism, as most of them have their faces covered, and their bikes seem to be old and customed. This picture also makes us think of teenagers, which usually are the consumers of this type of bikes, so this might be a clear reference to the idea of youth, another reference to this idea is the way in which the models are dressed up, with tracksuits, and informal wear. The background is also a very important feature of the picture, it is a waste land, which again conveys the idea of “Vandalism”, “Underground” and Social margination, which might be the feeling that members of this type of gangs feel. The budget of the picture doesn’t seem very high, as the models are unknown, the costumes and objects used (The Motorbikes) doesn’t seem very expensive and the background isn’t exotic or extraordinary. GQ Contents Page GQ’ s contents page has a “snow” background colour, to make a more serious and professional spread, it also has black writing, to make everything stand out to make it easy and clear to read, white or negative space also helps the reader comprehend what they are reading, to pay attention to the message the editor wants to transmit (In this case, what the magazine talks about) and to communicate freshness and openness. Each section has a number, and the title is simple and one word only, to get a big amount of information in the viewer’s eye in the least possible time. The title of the spread is in a large font, to make it clear. We can see that GQ with this contents page tries to transmit all of the contents the easiest way possible making it minimalist and functional. The picture used for this contents age is a man, dressed up in a suit, jumping. The picture connotes seriousness and professionality, but at the same time idea of youth, due to the model's agility and fitness. This could try to say that the magazine is directed to the type of men, that have an important professional life, but at the same time like sports and a “fit life”, so the target audience for this magazine are men, from age 20 up to 50, mainly succeeders. GQ Contents PageGQ is an international monthly men's magazine based in New York City and founded in 1931. The publication focuses on fashion, style, and culture for men, though articles on food, movies, fitness, sex, music, travel, sports, technology, and books are also featured. The contents page has the magazine’s logo at the top left side, with the date of the edition, as it is usual in this kind of magazines. The layout of the contents page is simple, there are some pictures at the top of the page, which gives the viewer an idea of what they are going to read about in the magazine, we can also see that the pictures have a little number, referring to the page for each respective article. Another feature is that each picture refers to a different section underneath them.
The first picture is a black and white medium closeup angle, in which we can see an old man, which seems to be important, due to how he is shown and the effects added to the photo, we can infer that this picture belongs to the “Intelligence” section. Another picture is a dish of food, which seems to be from a good chef, due to the way in which it is presented, this picture could be from the “features” section. The last picture from the contents page is a man, dressed in a suit riding a motorbike, performing a wheelie in a big citie, which looks like New York, this picture is an action shot, and we can clearly see that it refers to the “Fashion “ section. The colour scheme used is bright, using a colour for each section, for each section to be better defined. Different fonts are used for the subtitles and article names, making them stand out from each other, the layout is neat and organised, aimed for mature men, who don’t need lots of images and prefer an order and clean layout. This magazine is aimed for men, from age 20 to 50, mainly succeeders. Things to point out: We can see a change from one content page of GQ to the other, the first one looks more direct and simple, making all of the information easier to get to the audience, whilst, on the second example we can see a more colourful page with a more variety of images. Eventhough GQ wanted to make both pages different, they still maintain the idea of having a white background, to make a more simple and proffesional work, making everything stand out more. Having said that, my opinion is that the only reason of GQ making some small changes is as simple as aving a wider variety of designs, to meet everyone's likes and not falling in the monotony of doing the same thing everytime, which would be boring for both the producers and the audience.
